Kairos Botanicals (formerly Salt Spring Botanicals) is owned and operated by Rupert Adams who has been working with the guidance and support of Dan Jason of Salt Spring Seeds for several years.

Rupert has been growing Ayurvedic, Chinese, European & indigenous PNW herbs for nearly a decade. The herbs are grown for medicinal uses and their seeds for inclusion in the Salt Spring Seeds on-line and printed catalogues.

Kairos Botanicals is a not-for-profit business, aiming to provide quality organic medicinal herbs and their medicinal products at affordable prices. It is run as an ecologically and socially responsible business, with the main intention being healing on all levels.

All tinctures are made from herbs organically grown on Salt Spring Island or locally wild-crafted, with certified organic ethanol and distilled water as the Menstruum.

New, Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) ($18.00)

A traditional Ayurvedic herb used for several thousand years, practitioners prescribed Ashwagandha as an herbal remedy to strengthen the immune system especially after an illness. Sometimes called Indian Ginseng for its adaptogenic properties, Ashwagandha, in Sanskrit, means "horse's smell", referring not only to the strength of smell of a horse, but also to a horse's strength or vigour. The Kama Sutra, the primary Sanskrit work on human sexuality, mentions Ashwagandha as an herb that can heighten sexual experience, restore sexual health and improve overall vitality. (*Recent research has shown Ashwagandha inhibits tumor activity in human cells.) The dried, ground root of the plant is used for this tincture. (2oz/60ml Bottle)

Another traditional Ayurvedic herb, Brahmi is extensively used as a nerve tonic and thought to improve memory and increase mental abilities. It is often used in the treatment of Altheizmer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Attention Deficit Disorder and memory loss. Brahmi is given in cases of anxiety, stress, insomnia and other issues related to the nervous system.
