Onion-Walla Walla

Allium cepa. Walla Wallas, developed in Washington State, are North America's answer to the sweet Spanish Onion. When started in August and allowed to overwinter, the plants produce mild, sweet bulbs which can grow to over a pound in weight. Spring-seeded plants do not get quite as large or sweet but are a good choice for those living in areas where the onions will not survive winter temperatures.
