Collection: Parsnip Seeds (Pastinaca sativa)
Native to Eurasia, the Parsnip has been used as a root vegetable since antiquity. It is a biennial plant that is grown as an annual. The taproot has cream-coloured flesh and, left in the ground to mature, becomes sweeter after winter frosts. Parsnips are high in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
Parsnips are best direct sown in rock-free ground from late March to early July. Seeds can take several weeks to germinate. Always use fresh seed as Parsnip seeds usually stay viable for only a year. Thin to about 4 inches once plants are established
