Collection: Pea Seeds (Pisum sativum)
You might think Salt Spring Seeds has gone overboard with Peas. It's just because we are a little smitten by them!
Fresh Shelling Peas have been a favourite North American vegetable for hundreds of years. More recently, Snap Peas and Snow Peas have become extremely popular. We think it's time for North Americans to also realize the value of dry pea varieties as people do in Europe. We offer many of these high-protein dry peas that are nourishing and satisfying in baking, soups and stews.
A cool season crop, peas thrive in areas with extended springs and can be grown in shady locations where summers are hot. They can be planted as early as the ground can be worked and just a few inches apart. In coastal areas, a second planting in mid-July can usually be successful.
Save some of your Peas that mature on the vine for future plantings.
Packets contain 50-70 seeds.
