Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) Fresh and Dried Root Tincture
A traditional Ayurvedic herb used for several thousand years, practitioners prescribed Ashwagandha as an herbal remedy to strengthen the immune system especially after an illness. Sometimes called Indian Ginseng for its adaptogenic properties, Ashwagandha, in Sanskrit, means "horse's smell", referring not only to the strength of smell of a horse, but also to a horse's strength or vigour.
The Kama Sutra, the primary Sanskrit work on human sexuality, mentions Ashwagandha as an herb that can heighten sexual experience, restore sexual health and improve overall vitality. (*Recent research has shown Ashwagandha inhibits tumor activity in human cells.) The dried, ground root of the plant is used for this tincture.
