Two-rowed, hulless, light barley. Grows to about 3 ft or 1 metre high. Easy to harvest and thresh. Great production. Early maturity. 300 seeds per packet.
In 2022, it matured in 70 days, which is really fast for any grain. Its 2-row heads make it less likely to fall over ("lodge") in heavy winds or rains than heavier 6-row barleys.
In 2023, a plot that was 10 feet by 60 feet produced 6 kilograms of barley.
When I told scientists at the gene bank in Addis Abbaba, Ethiopia in 1993, that I was growing Ethiopian barley, they laughed and asked me which variety since they had over 6000 cultivars of barley in their seed bank! But I lucked out with my first barley. I'm still growing this cultivar 3 decades later and highly recommend it.
