Gentiana tibetica. Rare and beautiful herbaceous perennial, from Himalayan foothills of China & Tibet. Easy to grow and adpated to lower elevations. Tolerant of many soil types, does well in containers and has few pest problems. Rosette of tropical looking leaves with greenish cream tubular blooms. Used historically as a digestive bitter which stimulates bile production and enhances liver function. Bitters can help to lessen sugar and carbohydrate cravings and to stimulate a healthy diet. Used to treat arthritis in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
