Collection: Rutabaga Seeds (Brassica napus)

Rutabaga is thought to have evolved from a cross between a turnip and a cabbage. It is a winter hardy root crop that can be mashed or roasted and is also excellent in soups and stews. It has the highest calcium content of all root crops.

It is best to wait to sow it until early summer so that it doesn't bolt. It prefers loose soil that is not especially fertile. Seeds should be sown about 1/2 inch deep and final spacing should be 8 inches to a foot apart.

Packets contain about 100 seeds.
