Aromatic, herbaceous perennial growing to 3 feet. Prefers moist, poorly draining ground and full sun to part shade. Flowers from June to September attracting large numbers of bees and other beneficial insects. Used for treating hyperthyroidism and related disorders. Also used as black dye for wools and silks.
