A beautiful blend of Strawflowers, showcasing all the colours that this plant has to offer. Strawflowers are a proud member of the Asteraceae family and produce a substantial daisy-like flower head with unique papery petals which attract an array of pollinators all season long.
They are considered a short-lived perennial in zones 8-11, and will behave as an annual in colder zones.
Growing to around 4 feet high on very sturdy stems, they make a wonderful cut flower and are also cherished as one of the best dried flowers. When dried and stored well, they maintain their shape and colour beautifully for many years.
They can be started indoors or directly sown in late April. If starting in trays, do so 6-8 weeks before the last frost of the season and transplant outside as soon as temperatures are above 10°C at night.
Strawflowers will offer you masses of vibrant blooms throughout summer and well into the fall. Their versatility and the sound they make in the breeze give them a particular charm, and they hold their place as a favourite here at Salt Spring Seeds.
