A stunning and versatile flower, Cinnamon Coreopsis is an excellent addition to any garden. This hardy annual plant is native to eastern North America and has been used traditionally as a dye plant for countless years.

It offers dainty and abundant blooms in a deep burgundy colour, with the underside of the petals showing off a bright yellow, making a stunning contrast. The plant can be crafted into natural dyes, showcasing pigments of golden yellows and shades of rusty browns. Both the blooms and the stems can be used for different aspects of dyeing.

Cinnamon Coreopsis boasts great hardiness and can perform well in poor soils with minimal watering; however, you will yield a more prolific plant with regular watering and well-drained soil.

Expect it to reach a height of 2 – 3 feet tall with many branching stems, each containing an abundance of blossoms, which will be in flower beginning late spring, going well into the fall. They can also be dead-headed to promote more growth.

Direct sow Cinnamon Coreopsis once the last frost has passed and the soil has somewhat dried, or start indoors 4-6 weeks prior. This flower readily self-sows, so it is easy to establish a seasonal bed of Coreopsis wherever it is planted.
