A great cover crop for the home garden. It is fast-growing, smothers weeds, improves soil and attracts beneficial insects. Tartary Buckwheat, also called Himalayan Buckwheat, is taller and more cold-tolerant (but not frost tolerant) than regular Buckwheat and has smaller seeds. Direct sow after last frost. 70-90 days to maturity.

Hulls are too tough to cook as is but commercial buckwheat is gluten-free, has double the protein of common grains and is high in rutin, which has strong anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties.

Obtained from Annapolis seeds.
